If you want to bid farewell to chapped, dry, flaky and even dark lips, it is necessary to take steps to ensure your lips are well taken care off. Unlikely other parts of facial skin, lips have a thinner layer which is exposed and prone to harsh elements. In order to prevent your lips from being chapped then using plant oils, extracts and waxes can form a protective layer to your lips.

SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Cocoa butter: A creamy to pale yellow semi-hard butter pressed from cocoa seeds. It has a chocolatey scent that you'll like every time you use your lip balm. It has essential fatty acids that can nourish and moisturize your lips.
Beeswax: A wax filled with nutrients that can not only moisturize but also replenish and protect then thin layer in your lips. It can protect your lips from getting chapped especially during the cold season.
Coconut oil: This carrier oil works best in many of our DIY skincare recipes and thought it will be of help in combating chapped lips. Coconut oil has anti-microbial and healing properties, both which are good for restoring dry and chapped lips. It is always a good idea to use coconut oil in your lip care routine either in your DIY lip balms or lip scrubs plus the coconut scent is just amazing!
Sweet almond oil: It contains vitamin A, E and K which are good for your lips and skin overall. Sweet almond oil has numerous benefits including helping dark lips to get lighter and vibrant lip complexion.
Cocoa absolute: Absolutes are concentrated and have strong smell. Cocoa absolute has that chocolatey scent that acts as our signature scent for our DIY lip balm recipe. With this chocolatey scent will make our lip balm stand out and look yummyπ.
Vitamin E oil: This ingredient act as a preservative to our lip balm. It They can also repair damaged lips from harsh weather, plumps and soften the lips. Vitamin E oil can also reduce effects of UV rays exposure though it is not a sunscreen.
Ingredients
1 heaping tablespoon of cocoa butter
1 tablespoon of grated beeswax
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
2 teaspoons of sweet almond oil
5 drops of cocoa absolute
10 drops of Vitamin E oil
Before starting your recipe making it is always a good idea to start by collecting our tools and ingredients together to avoid cutting the process mid-way only to realize we lack a tool or even worse an essential ingredient.
Instructions
Measure your ingredients: cocoa butter, grated beeswax, coconut oil and sweet almond oil into a glass measuring cup and place in a saucepan of few inches of simmering water.
Wait until your beeswax and cocoa butter have completely melted
Now remove from the heat.
Next add your favorite essential oils, in this case we are going to use vitamin E oil and cocoa absolute. Vitamin E oil for nourishing your lips and cocoa absolute for that chocolatey smell.
Carefully pour your mixture to your designated lip balm containers, they can be lip balm tins, lip balm jars and lip balm tubes.
Allow to harden and cool at room temperature.
QUICK TIP: To prevent air bubbles in your lip balm, use lip tube filling tray, if you don't have one use blow dryer to re-melt the lip balm and add more mixture and fill the hole.
