Milk contains lactic acid, a type of AHAs(Alpha-Hydroxyl Acids) that can help to brighten your complexion, help the texture of your skin and soften your skin. In this blogpost we are going to explore and make our own inspired by Cleopatra's milk bath.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Whole milk: What makes whole milk is its fat content. Whole milk has 2 to 4 percent fat content. Apart from being a good drink and an ingredient for making your favorite cupcakes. Milk contains lactic acid, a AHAs, an exfoliant secret to brighter complexion. Before cosmetic industry started packaging lactic acid for us, this was the only way to get your lactic acid for your skin.
Heavy whipping cream: It contains like 30 to 36 percent of fat content. This together with whole milk makes a good option for our milk bath. Contains nutrients such as vitamin A, calcium, choline and other nutrients. Your milk bath will be good to go with this ingredient.
Natural honey: Apart from being self-preserving, natural honey is a good humectant. It can moisturize the skin, fade scars and help to exfoliate the skin. Together with milk makes a perfect combo for brighter skin.
Sea salt: Derived from the banks of the oceans and seas of salty water, sea salt can help sloughs off dead skin cells and reveal a beautiful brighter complexion and even skin texture. Fine grade one is more gentler than coarse or medium one. You could use them in this recipe if you prefer this kind texture.
Olive oil: Olive oil is not only beneficial to the internal health but also skin health. It filled with oleic acid that is good at protecting and nourishing skin barrier after exfoliation. Use extra virgin olive oil to reap more of its benefits.
Ingredients
1 cup of whole milk
½ cup of heavy whipping cream
¼ cup of natural honey
¼ cup of fine sea salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Consider gathering your ingredients and tools to make it easier for you to make your recipe with minimum downtime especially if you are planning to use your milk bath on the same day.
Substitute whole milk for 6 tablespoons for powdered milk, half a cup of salt scrub and 1 cup of powdered coffee creamer for dry milk bath blend that you want to use it any other day of the week or pack it as a gift. You will add liquid ingredients such as water, honey and olive oil before immediately using your milk bath.
Instructions
Gather your ingredients; 1 cup of whole milk, ½ cup of heavy whipping cream, ¼ cup of natural honey, ¼ cup of sea salt and one tablespoon of olive oil.
Put your ingredients in a glass bowl and whisk with a hand-held mixer in low to medium speed for like 5 minutes.
Your mixture is ready.
HOW TO USE YOUR OWN-INSPIRED CLEOPATRA'S MILK BATH
Fill the bathtub with warm water.
Pour your milk bath into the water and swirl the the water for it to mix well.
At this point you can set up your relaxing music, dim lights and scented candles.
Sit and soak your body for 20 to 30 minutes.
Rinse your body in the shower after soaking.
CAUTION
After using your milk bath, the bathtub and floor may get slippery so you should be careful not to fall down.
