Ingredients
ยผ cup of witch hazel hydrosol
2 tablespoons of dried thyme herb
2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
20 drops of neroli essential oil
8 drops of wintergreen oil
Before you start to make your recipe, prepare all the ingredients and get mixing bowl, saucepan, stove top, measuring spoons and your designated bottle for your facial toner. Using organic and natural ingredients can result in a better recipe with optimal results after use.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Witch hazel hydrosol: Best for its astringent properties, witch hazel has an ability to unclog pores, tighten pores and overall cleanse the skin. This is why we use it as the base ingredient in our recipe. It can remove oiliness from the skin without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
Dried thyme herb: Thyme has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with various skin conditions especially acne. This herb can help to treat acne, together with witch hazel hydrosol.
Vegetable glycerin: It is very moisturizing ingredient. Vegetable glycerin can help to soothe and hydrate the skin. Your facial toner will help to retain moisture while cleansing your skin, preparing a skin surface for serum or moisturizer.
Apple cider vinegar: It is generally a good choice for oily and acne-prone skin. It can help to remove dead skin cells while balancing skin pH. Apart from ACV numerous benefits, it can eliminate bad bacterial growth on the skin.
Neroli essential oil: This essential oil can stimulate cell turnover and rejuvenate the skin. But also it help reduce hyperpigmentation, reduce appearance of acne scars and dark spots. Instructions
Start by pouring your witch hazel hydrosol in a saucepan and place it over the stove top in a low to medium heat. Wait till it starts to simmer.
Remove your saucepan from heat. Now add dried thyme herbs. After that cover tightly your saucepan with lid and then wait for the mixture to cool to room temperature.
What you have to do next is strain the liquid from the spent herbs and pour it in a glass jar or mixing bowl. You can add this herbs in a carrier oil and infuse the oil for several weeks instead of immediately tossing it into the dustbin.
Transfer your liquid to a designated bottle of your choice. You can clean and sanitize your old bottle of facial toner and reuse it instead of throwing it away. Make sure the bottle is sanitized to avoid bacterial growth.
Add vegetable glycerin and apple cider vinegar. Then shake well.
Lastly, add your essential oils drop by drop. In our recipe, we are using neroli essential oil and wintergreen essential oil. Then shake well. This recipe is now ready for use.
You can store your facial toner in a cool and dry place and use it within 8 weeks.
