How To Make Vanilla-scented Body Scrub
Today we're making a very simple body scrub with ingredients that you can find in your own kitchen. This is a Vanilla-scented body scrub. This customized body scrub is very, very, very, simple I promise! You won't need to leave your kitchen in order to make this recipe Now let's get to work!
DIY SKINCARE
Body scrubs are good for exfoliating the skin, in turn this can slough off dead skin cells and increase the blood flow in the skin layers. But also exfoliating the skin with body scrub can help reveal the radiant skin. Now let's take a look at this recipe.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Brown sugar: This is the base ingredient for this recipe. It is a good choice for creating body scrubs since it's a good exfoliating agent. It can be used for all skin types including delicate skin. But also it is completely safe to use it on your face. I always have it inside the house coz to me, I like this type of sugar when baking cakes.
Baking soda: It is another good option I have chosen for the recipe. It can help to neutralize the acid thus a very good choice for balancing the overall skin pH. When used with brown sugar as an exfoliant it can make dull skin to be radiant.
Coconut oil: Cold-pressed unrefined type is a better choice for this recipe. Its strong aroma make for great experience when you smell it. It is good for normal, combination, sensitive, mature and dry skin types. It has a shelf-life of up to 2 years.
Cinnamon: It is a good spice and has antioxidant properties which can help to nourish the skin. That's why I have used this ingredient in this recipe. I prefer the cinnamon powder made from cinnamon bark more than the wood inside but any option will work fine.
Vanilla extract: Lastly, it can be easily found and it is economically priced. It comes from pods of a vanilla plant. Combination of vanilla extract and coconut oil aroma will make this recipe even more sweeter. Just an amazing combo!
Ingredients
1 cup of brown sugar
½ (half) cup of baking soda
⅔ (two-thirds) cup of coconut or olive oil
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
½ (half) teaspoon of vanilla extract
I prefer using organic or natural ingredients for more better results. If you feel that the recipe will be large serving for you, just reduce every ingredient in half, in the list before preparing this recipe.
Now prepare your tools like a small bowl, spoons for measuring ingredients and a jar with a lid for storing your body scrub after preparing it. I prefer miniature Mason jars, I think they are cool!
Instructions
Start by mixing the dry ingredients first in one bowl. Add 1 cup of brown sugar followed by a half cup of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
Blend the dry ingredients together and put this bowl aside.
Now get to work with liquid ingredients. In this recipe, I only have one liquid ingredient. I'm going to use coconut oil coz that's what I have, olive oil is good option too.
Next, add two-thirds of coconut oil in the dry ingredients, blend and mix it to a paste.
Then add half a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the paste and mix again.
Store the blend in a small, clean Mason jar or any other jar with a lid and put it in the refrigerator.
QUICK TIP: If your recipe is too thick just add a little oil, if your recipe is too thin add more sugar. Just add either of the ingredients to the recipe and see what consistency is right for you.
HOW TO USE THIS BODY SCRUB
Apply to damp skin, then rub it in circular motion to exfoliate the dead skin cells off your skin.
Wash it off with lukewarm water.
Use it once or twice a week for optimal results.
CAUTION
Don't overuse your body scrub as it can compromise your skin barrier.
Be careful when using it in the bathroom since it can get slippery.
